The creation of the Chevrolet Spark was preceded by the transition of the Korean automobile concern Daewoo to the American corporation General Motors. After that, GM-Daewoo Auto & Technology was established. As a result, all cars of the concern, produced in the domestic market of Korea, changed their names to Chevrolet.

So, in 2005, after significant changes in the exterior and interior, the beloved Daewoo Matiz car was released under the name Chevrolet Spark. It differed from Matiz in its modernized design, more reliable construction and low cost.

The car is made in the back of a five-door hatchback. The length of the car is 3.5 meters. One of two gasoline engines can be installed under the hood of the car: a 52-horsepower 0.8-liter unit or a 66-horsepower 1-liter engine. The car is also supplied to the Russian market under the name Chevrolet Spark. The engines of the first generation of the car met the Euro 2 environmental standards. In 2008, after the modification of the power units, they began to meet the Euro 3 toxicity standards.
