Toyota Corolla Oil Capacity and Oil Type

There are many different types of engine oil on the market, and it can be difficult to determine which one is best for your car. If you own a Toyota Corolla, then we recommend using synthetic oil. Synthetic oil is made from man-made chemicals, and it has been engineered to provide better performance than traditional motor oil. It is more expensive than other types of oil, but it is worth the investment.

There are many opinions on how often motor oil must be changed. Many people still think that oil must be changed after every 30,000 miles are run or once in three months.

However, good quality oil requires less frequent changes. If you are contemplating on what oil is better for your Toyota Corolla, conventional or synthetic one, here are some guidelines.

How Much Oil Does A Toyota Corolla Take?

The 2021 Toyota Corolla with the 1.8L 4-cyl engine (engine code 2ZR-FAE) takes 4.4 quarts (with filter) of 0W-20 synthetic oil. The Toyota Corolla with a 2.0L 4-cyl engine (engine code M20A-FKS) takes 4.9 quarts (with filter) of 0W-16 synthetic oil. A new oil filter and a crush washer are required.

What Oil Is The Most Appropriate For Toyota?

Toyota automobiles, released after 2010, usually employ synthetic oil while older versions use conventional oil. In order to be sure that you utilize the proper oil, have a look at the manufacturer’s guidelines or turn to a Toyota service center.

For example, Toyota advises going with the viscosity index of 0W-20 and an oil grade of ILSAC GF-5 multigrade motor oil for its 2017 Corolla. Also, if possible, it’s recommended to apply Toyota Genuine Motor Oil.

How Often Should Oil Be Changed In New Toyota Automobiles?

Usually, new Toyota cars demand oil change after every 10,000 miles are run or once in 12 months. However, always check that information in the owner’s manual as each model may have its peculiarities.

However, even if oil is changed once a year, it’s important to inspect the fluid level, buy new wiper blades plus check tire rotations once in 6 months or after every 5,000 miles.

Five different trim levels with different equipment levels are prepared for the Toyota Corolla. Base models will receive, for the most part, only basic safety features such as front and side airbags, ABS, BAS, ESP and ASR, child seat mountings, factory alarm, light sensor and air conditioning.

For an additional fee, you can order a car with leather trim, alloy wheels, an electronic dashboard, an advanced multimedia system, keyless entry, parking radar, rearview camera, a traffic sign recognition system, as well as active cruise control and head-up display.

  1. What engine oil is recommended for Toyota?

    1. Dan Hoffman says:

To ensure that your Corolla is running smoothly, we recommend that you use Toyota Genuine Motor Oil with a grade of ILSAC GF-5.

  2. Can I put 10w40 instead of 5w30?

  3. What if I put the wrong oil in my car?

    1. Dan Hoffman says:

You have to use only the oil with a viscosity specified by your manufacturer. Using the viscosity that is different may be harmful to your engine because the lubricating properties are not suitable.
