The all-new Toyota RAV4 was shown to the general public on the catwalks of the New York Auto Show in March 2018. In fact, this is a full-fledged fifth generation, and not just another planned restyling. The manufacturer has really made global changes. The model has moved to a different platform and also received a completely new interior and design. Instead of streamlined and swift forms, the car shows brutal angular lines. The basic versions of the Toyota RAV4 are equipped with an atmospheric 2.5-liter inline petrol four. The engineers managed to squeeze out 206 horsepower and 249 Nm of torque thanks to the good volume and the proprietary variable valve timing system. It fits exclusively with an eight-band automatic machine. In basic versions, front-wheel drive; however, for an additional fee, the manufacturer offers a system with a clutch that connects the rear axle.
Top performance options are equipped with a hybrid powertrain. It is based on a similar but somewhat deformed internal combustion engine. The transmission is a continuously variable electromechanical CVT, and the rear-wheel-drive is realized using a separate electric motor. As a result, this modification develops 180 horsepower and 221 Nm of torque.
