The tenth-generation Chevrolet Impala 2014 model year was presented at the New York Auto Show in April 2012. The sedan was based on the Epsilon II universal platform, which the car shared with the Opel Insignia, Chevrolet Malibu, and the forthcoming Cadillac XTS. Compared to its predecessor, the new Chevrolet Impala has grown in size, and its appearance has acquired aggressive features: in particular, the front of the sedan bears some resemblance to the Chevrolet Camaro.

The 2014 Chevrolet Impala range of powertrains will include 3 petrol engines. The smallest of them, with a volume of 2.4 liters and a capacity of 182 hp, is planned to be equipped with an eAssist semi-hybrid system with a low-power electric motor, which will provide fuel savings of up to 25%. In addition, the new Chevrolet Impala will receive a 2.5-liter engine with a capacity of 195 hp, and as a top-end engine, customers will be offered a 3.6-liter 6-cylinder power unit that develops 303 hp. and maximum torque of 358 Nm.

Regardless of the engine and configuration, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala will be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The only caveat is that a specially prepared 6T40 automatic transmission will work in tandem with a 2.4-liter engine, and 6T70 in tandem with the other two. It is expected that already in the basic configuration of the new Chevrolet Impala will be equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, 10 airbags connected to the OnStar emergency assistance system, as well as LED running lights.

Another item on the 2014 Chevrolet Impala’s list of standard equipment will be the Chevrolet My Link entertainment system with an 8-inch LCD display. In more expensive trim levels, the car will receive adaptive cruise control, a collision-avoidance system when driving at low speeds, as well as a blind spot monitoring system, and a rear-view camera.

The new Chevrolet Impala will be produced at the General Motors plants in Oshawa (Canada) and Hamtremke (USA), and official sales of the car will begin in the first half of 2013.
