Millionaires’ favorite and rescue for large families – the glory of the Cadillac Escalade SUV is very versatile. But in any case, the audience of this American giant is also huge. And in its new look, the 2018 Cadillac Escalade has become even more stylish and technological.
In the early 90s, there were rumors that the premium American carmaker Cadillac intended to dilute its lineup with an unexpected model – an SUV. Year after year, the world community was eagerly awaiting new items, but the luxury division of General Motors was in no hurry to implement the idea. Finally, on the eve of the new millennium, the Cadillac Escalade was released. It is not easy to find a semantic translation in Russian right off the bat since the word “escalade” is outdated. It meant a quick assault on the fortress by means of attached flights of stairs.
The luxury SUV was built on the GMC Yukon Denali platform. Unlike the “progenitor,” Escalade received a much more striking exterior. The spectacular appearance was created by a large body and large five-spoke wheels, recognizable from afar by the branded grille with a coat of arms.
Inside, one could also feel the manufacturer’s concern for compliance with the status of a premium car: everything was gorgeous, mega-comfortable, and at a specific stage in time – high-tech. The salon was decorated with light natural leather and natural wood of expensive species, and passengers in the back rows could independently choose the music, radio station, and sound volume.

It was the first generation Cadillac Escalade. It had a V-shaped gasoline engine under the hood. The volume of the power unit is 5.7 liters with a capacity of 255 hp. The automatic transmission is four-speed. The technical characteristics of the luxury full-size SUV in the “first edition” were remarkably similar to the GMC Yukon Denali. The more advanced front suspension was the distinguishing feature, which defined the Escalade’s comfort level. However, the new Cadillac caused a storm of emotions and found a huge number of fans around the world.
An interesting point: it took Cadillac engineers only 10 months to develop this masterpiece of technology and manufacturability! Another significant point – according to the Highway Loss Data Institute, the first generation of Escalade topped the rating of the most stolen cars in the United States.
