    I wanted to verify what you mean by initial Fill vs Total Fill. I have a Toyota highlander 2007 Limited 4wd with a V6 and 5 speed transmission. I plan to do an oil change.

    1. The “initial fill” is the amount of new trans fluid you need to add before starting the engine. Once you’ve added the required amount for the “initial fill”, start the engine and move the gear shifter through each gear and pause a few seconds at each gear (go in order from Park down to 1). After that, put it back in park and let the engine get up to operating temperature. Now check the fluid level and add as needed. So if you put in 3.8 quarts for the “initial fill” and had to add 5.7 more quarts at the end, your “total fill” is 9.5 quarts.
