The debut of the fourth generation Subaru WRX took place on the catwalks of the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show. The car has lost the word Impreza in the name, linking it to the original civilian version on which it was based. In this form, it was produced until 2017, when the manufacturer decided to carry out the first planned restyling.
After him, the car appeared in the showrooms of domestic dealerships. Before that, only the older version with the STI prefix was offered. The novelty received a classic, for the manufacturer, a power unit with a proprietary layout, two variable transmissions to choose from, as well as a permanent all-wheel-drive system. The manufacturer has worked to improve comfort.
The salon received improved noise insulation materials. The second row of seats has a reclining armrest with integrated cup holders. The diagonal of the screen located above the central panel has increased. Among other things, the optional Recaro sports seats with improved lateral support are electrically operated for adjustments.
Among other things, the LED headlights are now adaptive. They learned to turn the beam of light behind the steering wheel, allowing them to look beyond the apex of the turn. As for the exterior, the restyling did not bring significant changes. The front bumper received enlarged air intakes, following the civilian Impreza.

The Subaru WRX engine is a two-liter flat-four. It received a direct fuel supply system, a variable valve timing system for both intake and exhaust camshafts, as well as a twin-scroll turbocharger of the Twin Scroll system. Its position has been changed, which significantly reduced the response to the accelerator pedal.
As a result, the engineers managed to get 268 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 350 Nm of torque in a wide range from 2400 to 5200 crankshaft revolutions per minute.
By default, the engine is mated to a six-speed variable transmission manual transmission. After restyling, she received modernized synchronizers. For an additional fee, you can order a Lineartronic CVT. The drive is exceptionally complete. Depending on the gearbox, the car will be able to develop 215-240 km / h, gain the first hundred in 6 seconds and consume 9-9.2 liters of gasoline per hundred in the combined cycle.
