To check the oil level, GMC recommends that you do the following:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
- Wait a few minutes for the oil to settle, then remove the dipstick and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth or paper towel.
- Insert the dipstick all the way back into its socket, then pull it out again and check the level.
- If your GMC Terrain is low on oil, add only enough to bring it up to the “full” mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill it!
