How Much Oil Does a Kia Sorento Take?

The 2021 KIA Sorento with the 2.5L 4-cyl Turbo engine takes 6.1 quarts (with filter) of 0W-30 synthetic oil. The KIA Sorento with a 3.3L 6-cyl engine takes 6.9 quarts (with filter) of 5W-30 synthetic oil. A new oil filter and a crush washer are required.

Engine oil viscosity (thickness) affects fuel economy and cold weather operating (engine start and engine oil flowability). Lower-viscosity engine oils can provide better fuel economy and cold-weather performance. However, higher-viscosity engine oils are required for satisfactory lubrication in hot weather.

Using oils of any viscosity other than those recommended could result in engine damage. When choosing an oil, consider the temperature range your vehicle will be operated in before the next oil change. Proceed to select the recommended oil viscosity from the chart.

When choosing engine oil for your Kia Sorento, it’s important to consider the climate you live in. If you live in a hot climate, it’s best to use an oil with a higher viscosity rating. This will help protect your engine from overheating. In colder climates, a lower-viscosity oil is typically recommended.

Kia Sorento Oil Change Interval

Kia recommends that oil changes should be performed every 7,500 miles or six months. If your vehicle is driven in dusty conditions, towing a trailer, or if you frequently carry heavy cargo, it’s recommended to get an oil change more often. Always use the correct oil type and weight when changing the engine oil in your Kia Sorento.

What Kind Of Oil Does A Kia Sorento Take?

The engine oil for the Kia Sorento should be a synthetic 0W-30 or 5W-30. It is important to use an oil with these specifications as other oils may not provide adequate protection and could cause damage to your engine. When purchasing engine oil, it’s also essential to verify that manufacturer-approved motor oil is being used.

Can You Mix Conventional Oil and synthetic Motor Oil?

In general, you should not mix conventional oil with synthetic motor oil. Synthetic motor oil is designed to last longer and provide better protection for your engine; mixing the two can significantly reduce the protective benefits offered by synthetic motor oil.

The specific type of oil recommended for your car depends on its make, model, year, and engine size, so it’s best to consult your owner’s manual or an oil recommendation chart before you make any changes.

Cars need oil to lubricate their engines, ensuring that moving parts do not come into contact with each other. Without oil, or when it becomes too dirty and thick from particles of dirt and metal shavings, your car’s engine will start to overheat, decreasing fuel efficiency and even permanent damage.

  1. Your numbers for the 2021 Kia Sorento are WRONG! For 2021 models, Kia does not use a 6-cyl engine, but instead Kia uses a 2.5L 4-Cyl engine in its 2021 models.

    1. Thanks for pointing that. We’ve made some changes to this page, so now everything looks correct and fine. Thanks for your help!
