The antifreeze/coolant from Motorcraft® meets Ford Motor Company's rigorous technical requirements. It has also undergone extensive in-vehicle testing in the applications for which it has been authorized.
Is DexCool The Same As Motorcraft Orange?
Most orange coolants are Dexcool, which is ethylene glycol-based but includes a component that extends the product's longevity. Motorcraft Orange differs from Dexcool in a few ways. The ethylene glycol content in Motorcraft Orange is 40-50%, whereas it is 30-60% in Dexcool.
The levels of diethylene glycol in Motorcraft Orange vary from 1 to 5 percent. In addition to having an anticorrosive ingredient, Dexcool contains another antioxidant that isn't present in Motorcraft Orange.
Can “Universal” Antifreeze/coolants be Used in all Vehicle Applications?
Because the intricacy and technological progress of today's cooling systems render it impossible to find a single antifreeze/coolant that works in all vehicles, no one antifreeze/coolant has been proven to work.
- Most general types of antifreeze/coolants do not include the silicates or nitrites essential in Motorcraft® Gold Antifreeze/Coolant or Premium Antifreeze/Coolant car engines.
- The incorrect antifreeze/coolant can damage the engine and cooling system components.
