The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox was originally expected to launch for the 2021 model year, but it was delayed owing to the pandemic. The current Equinox has a more contemporary, sportier design language derived from its tiny Blazer sibling. New front and rear facias as well as split-level LED headlights with LED daytime running lights have been added.
The front end is also redesigned, with a new grille design that varies in color (such as black or chrome inserts) based on trim level. Higher trims get new 19-inch machine-faced wheels as well. The interior also receives trim-specific upgrades, including the Premier’s French stitching on the upholstery and a new high-gloss black console.
In terms of under the hood, things haven’t changed. The 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, while the 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with 252 hp and 260 lb-ft is linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive will continue to be offered.
